The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe execution of a wide variety of maintenance tasks and will take ownership of specific systems or equipment within our production facility. They are a thorough professional who advocates for safety and quality, with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines.
This is a hardworking, hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves environment emphasizing a team-oriented and collaborative style. It will be key for the candidate to embrace change and see past obstacles with a focus on solutions in the context of a company undergoing rapid growth and ongoing functional integration.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Execute Assigned Work Orders within a CMMS system in a timely manner and complete all relevant documentation to close.

Must be flexible in any maintenance task in the facility and cross train with others in the team.

Ensure safe work conditions and practices as outlined in the company Safety, Health & Environment policies.

Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the plant systems and equipment to operate in a safe, productive, and efficient manner.

Help develop and improve standard operating practices and effective preventative maintenance plans for equipment and processes to ensure continued safe operation with reduced unplanned downtime.

Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to business alarms and notifications outside of regular business hours

Coordinate work with external contractors and ensure work is completed effectively.
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues with operating equipment.

Develop innovative solutions to overcome problems or improve systems

Ensure facility adheres to safety and environmental rules.

Implement facility improvement projects for more efficient energy demand.

Conduct area inspections and audits.

Work well in a team atmosphere to support the manufacturing site as a whole to achieve its goals.

Support all areas of maintenance throughout the facility including preventative, corrective, and reliability approach.

Keep tools and equipment in good working order while maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Support the Maintenance Manager with special requests and projects that may be outside of day-to-day responsibilities
Qualifications:
-
Must have over 3-years experience in either industrial Plumbing, HVAC or Industrial Building Maintenance.

Preferably 3-5 years of experience in a food or pharmaceutical environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Ability to work independently and safely

Experience working with hand and power tools.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are needed to work effectively with all levels of employees and management

Self-motivated, highly organized, great attention to detail, and strong record-keeping skills
- WHMIS certification is considered an asset

Must have access to reliable transportation to work full-time hours as scheduled (40 hours per week)

Has the ability to provide a criminal record check that is clear of any charges that could be related or have a direct correlation to the position or company
Job Details
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Wage: starts at $26.50 per hour, will be determined based on experience.
Status: Full-time, permanent position
Schedule: regularly 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, on call as required, subject to change as per operational requirements

Physical Demands

Ability to perform physical tasks required for an 8-hour shift period, including but not limited to: pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50lbs), standing, and walking for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to medical gloves, safety eyewear, face masks, fall arrest, etc.

Environmental Demands

Must be willing and able to work in/move through environments with variable temperature and humidity, and variable lighting.

Must be able to work in an environment that uses cleaning products including, but not limited to, AM 717, Caustek Free, Powerquat, Isopropyl Alcohol, Formula 19, Windex, Scrubber Blue(toilet), Goo Gone, Stainless Steel Cleaner, Magic eraser, Vinegar, Century Tile Cleaner.
