ToDoToronto is one of Toronto's largest things-to-do media channels, helping people discover the best events, experiences, restaurants, pop-ups, festivals and things happening across the city.
We're looking for a Social Media & Content Coordinator who lives and breathes Toronto and social media.
This isn't just a posting role. You'll help decide what Toronto should know about tonight and tomorrow.
You'll monitor what's trending across the city, identify content opportunities, manage our social channels, attend and film events and pop-ups, and make real-time decisions about what content has the potential to perform on ToDoToronto.
Responsibilities
60% — Social Media, Trends & Community
- Manage ToDoToronto's evening social media presence across Instagram and TikTok.
- Monitor Toronto events, breaking trends, viral posts, competitors and social media conversations throughout your shift.
- Identify trending content from our secondary channels that has the potential to perform on ToDoToronto's main account.
- Decide which content opportunities are strong enough for the main ToDoToronto page versus secondary channels.
- Research and pitch timely content ideas based on what's happening across Toronto.
- Create quick-turnaround Reels, carousels and static posts using Canva and CapCut.
- Adapt content based on real-time circumstances such as weather, crowds, trends and breaking Toronto news.
- Monitor content performance and identify posts gaining momentum.
- Review and manage creator collaboration requests.
- Communicate with our VAs and internal content team throughout the evening.
- Monitor and respond to relevant DMs and community messages.
- Review social channels at the beginning and end of each shift to identify new opportunities.
- Provide a short end-of-shift update highlighting completed work, content performance and opportunities for the following day.
40% — On-Site Toronto Content Creation
- Attend approximately 2–3 Toronto events, activations or locations per week to capture content.
- Film pop-ups, festivals, concerts, restaurants, attractions, new openings and unique experiences around Toronto.
- Capture engaging vertical video optimized for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
- Quickly identify the most interesting or visually compelling parts of an experience.
- Create content that makes viewers think "I want to go there."
- Edit and publish timely content when an opportunity is time-sensitive.
- Make judgment calls on whether content should be posted, held, changed or skipped based on its quality and potential performance.
- Be comfortable travelling throughout Toronto during evening hours.
What We're Looking For
- Enrolled in or graduated from a Canadian university or college.
- Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok and short-form social media.
- You regularly follow Toronto events, restaurants, pop-ups, entertainment and things to do.
- You understand why certain social posts go viral and can recognize strong content opportunities quickly.
- Comfortable filming and creating content independently at events.
- Experience with CapCut and Canva.
- Strong eye for visually compelling content and attention-grabbing hooks.
- Able to make quick editorial decisions without needing constant direction or approval.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
- Highly organized and able to manage several priorities during a fast-moving shift.
- Comfortable communicating with creators, VAs and internal team members.
- Reliable and comfortable working evening and weekend shifts.
- Self-motivated and proactive — you don't wait to be told what to look for.
- Must be based in Toronto / Greater Toronto Area and able to travel around Toronto.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first few months, you'll be able to:
- Independently identify strong Toronto content opportunities.
- Recognize which stories belong on ToDoToronto's main page and which should be skipped.
- Capture and edit engaging content quickly while on location.
- Spot viral or emerging Toronto trends before they become saturated.
- Keep ToDoToronto responsive and active throughout the evening.
- Consistently contribute content that drives strong reach, shares, saves and engagement.
- Reduce the amount of day-to-day direction required from the broader content team.
What We Offer
- $20–$25 per hour
- Part-time position with evening hours.
- Hybrid role with remote social media work and regular on-site content creation.
- Access to some of Toronto's biggest events, festivals, restaurants, pop-ups and experiences.
- Company events and a tight-knit, collaborative team.
- Opportunity to create content seen by a large Toronto audience.
- Opportunity to grow your responsibilities within ToDoToronto's content team.
