Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Equipment Operator who is also willing to assist with shop setup and general fabrication shop activities. The successful candidate will operate various material-handling equipment and support the setup and organization of an industrial fabrication shop. This role requires someone who is comfortable working in both equipment operation and hands-on shop support tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate material-handling equipment such as zoom booms, skid steers, and forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Assist with shop setup including positioning equipment, materials, and workstations.
- Load, unload, and move materials within the shop and yard as required.
- Support fabrication teams by transporting materials and components.
- Maintain equipment in good working order and report maintenance issues.
- Assist with general shop duties including organization, cleanup, and preparation of work areas.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and company policies.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and shop personnel to ensure smooth daily operations.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification/tickets for:
- Zoom Boom (Telehandler)
- Skid Steer
- Forklift
- Experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial or fabrication environment.
- Knowledge of shop layout and setup in industrial or fabrication facilities is an asset.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to assist in multiple areas of shop operations.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in fabrication or industrial shops.
- Familiarity with handling steel, piping, or fabrication materials.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with shop setup and logistics.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Prolonged periods of standing, operating equipment, and manual handling of materials.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00-$48.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
Licence/Certification:
