Job Summary
Reporting to the Operations Engineering and Facility Manager, the Sanitation Technician is responsible for performing sanitation activities in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and applicable regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant production environment through the execution of cleaning and sanitization activities, accurate completion of documentation, and adherence to quality systems. Many tasks are repetitive and require precision, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established procedures consistently for extended periods.
Duties
- Clean production and non-production areas in accordance with approved sanitation procedures and GMP requirements.
- Clean and sanitize production equipment following validated cleaning procedures and established schedules.
- Complete all sanitation records, logbooks, checklists, and documentation accurately, legibly, and in real time in accordance with GMP and data integrity requirements.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning agents, sanitizers, janitorial supplies, and PPE.
- Follow and review sanitation SOPs, work instructions, and related documentation as required.
- Identify and report deviations, non-conformances, equipment issues, and potential contamination risks to management.
- Adhere to all site quality, health and safety, environmental, and security requirements.
- Support inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- Assist with other production activities including, but not limited to, trimming, harvesting, cloning, and destruction of cannabis waste materials, as required.
- Maintain safe and effective use of cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Participate in GMP, sanitation, safety, and job-specific training programs.
- Be available for occasional evening and weekend work as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one (1) year of sanitation, cleaning, manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cannabis, or other regulated industry experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation principles, and contamination control practices is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to complete GMP documentation, logbooks, forms, and records accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
- Understanding of the importance of documentation accuracy, traceability, and data integrity.
- Ability to identify, communicate, and escalate quality, safety, or compliance concerns.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
