Ottens Landscaping is a Surrey/Langley-based commercial landscaping firm serving the Greater Vancouver area. We pride ourselves on high-quality, safety-driven work and a team-oriented culture. We are currently hiring full-time, hourly-paid Landscape Maintenance Crew Members (entry-level to experienced) to join our year-round maintenance team. In this role you’ll work on commercial properties performing general landscape maintenance tasks and supporting overall site care.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks (mowing, trimming, pruning, edging, weeding, mulching, debris removal, etc.).
- Operate and maintain equipment and tools (ride-on mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc.) to keep sites neat and safe.
- Assist with plant care (planting, fertilizing, trimming) and seasonal cleanups (fall leaf removal, spring bed prep).
- Adhere to professional and safety standards at all times (use PPE, follow safe operating procedures).
- Work outdoors in all weather and seasons, maintaining energy and attention to detail.
- Communicate with crew and supervisors to ensure timely completion of tasks and a high-quality client experience.
Qualifications
- Driver’s license & transportation: Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license with a clean record, plus reliable vehicle.
- Physical ability: Able to lift ~50 lbs regularly and work on your feet (outdoors in various weather).
- Work ethic: Punctual, dependable, and team-oriented – we count on you to show up ready to work each day.
- Experience/Education: Landscaping or horticulture experience is an asset but – we provide on-the-job training.
- Communication: Good English skills (spoken and written) for on-site coordination and understanding instructions.
- Other: Ability to follow instructions, basic math, and familiarity with landscape terminology is beneficial. A positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to learn are essential.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage: Competitive pay, commensurate with experience (e.g. starting in the low-to-mid $20s/hr). Pay increases awarded for performance and added skills. Overtime paid at 1.5× after 40 hours/week.
- Schedule: Full-time (typically Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week; summer schedules and occasional Saturdays as needed). Year-round work – we stay busy through all seasons.
