SEE Auditor (Part-Time, Contract)
YMCA Calgary - Multiple Locations
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: January 31st, 2027, with the possibility of extension.
Salary: $21.22/hour - $26.52/hour

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
- Lifesaving Society SEE Auditor certification;
- National Lifeguard Instructor Certificate is a requirement along with National Lifeguard Certification;
- Extensive experience as a Lifeguard in a recreation facility;
- Experience as a National Lifeguard Examiner, Aquatic Supervisor or Aquatic Manager in a recreation environment is considered an asset;
- A strong understanding of Lifesaving Society best practices and drowning prevention systems;
- Strong administrative and organizational skills;
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
- Three professional references required.
The Supervision, Evaluation & Enhancement (SEE) Auditor is responsible for completing comprehensive audits across the association that play a vital role in enhancing lifeguard and instructional team performance. This role involves staying current with industry standards, and working closely with both the Aquatics and Safety teams improve drowning prevention systems.
- Act as an auditor for aquatics supervision, evaluation, and enhancement audits across the association.
- Plan and complete high-quality audits with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Stay up to date & ensure practices are aligned with current Lifesaving Society best practices.
- Work with facility Aquatics staff to complete the audit while on site at each facility.
- Communicate effectively with the Senior Health & Safety Manager regarding availability, audit schedules, and feedback.
- Complete administrative work for each audit, including preparing materials, writing audit reports, providing written and verbal feedback, and submitting hard and electronic records.
- Promote an environment in line with YMCA Calgary core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility & Respect.
- Foster a collaborative environment dedicated to safety and drowning prevention.
- Adapt and tailor audit approaches to each facility, staff, and environment.
- Be a self-directed and independent worker.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be available 10-15 hours per month to complete audits.
- Be able to travel and audit city wide, including but not limited to, Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge, Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton, Shawnessy YMCA, Remington YMCA in Quarry Park, Saddletowne YMCA and Melcor YMCA at Crowfoot.
