Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Security System Technician. This apprenticeship is designed to provide hands-on experience and training in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer and security systems. As an apprentice, you will work closely with experienced technicians, learning industry best practices and gaining valuable skills in the growing field of technology and security.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and setup of computer systems, security cameras, alarm systems, and access control devices.
- Help with pulling and running wires for projects.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on hardware and software systems.
- Conduct system inspections to ensure proper functionality and security.
- Provide technical support to clients, troubleshooting issues remotely or on-site.
- Participate in the testing and calibration of security devices and computer systems.
- Assist in configuring and upgrading software and hardware systems as needed.
- Follow company safety protocols and ensure that work sites are secure.
- Keep accurate records of services performed, including system configurations and repairs.
Qualifications:
- College Engineering diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong interest in technology, computers, electronics, and security systems.
- Hands-on ability to pull, run, label, and organize low-voltage cables neatly and safely.
- Comfortable working with basic tools, ladders, drills, and installation equipment.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and electronic devices.
- Ability to handle security equipment carefully, including cameras, access control devices, readers, panels, and intercom systems.
- Hardworking, reliable, and willing to learn on the job.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and also as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and professional attitude when working at client sites.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Valid G driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required depending on job site locations.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Previous experience with computers, security systems, or related technical fields.
- Familiarity with wiring, networking, or hardware troubleshooting. using power tools
- Certification or coursework in IT or security-related fields is a plus.
