Position Summary

Reports to Services Business Unit Manager. Supervises and assigns work to skilled labour, service people and outside contractors for the repair and preventative maintenance of all equipment. This position is a team participant responsible for several critical activities that contribute to plant performance indicators.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises and assigns work to skilled labour, service people and outside contractors
Coordinates maintenance, technical repairs and cleaning, with production needs to minimize down time and maximize production
Works with cross-functional teams to find creative solutions to problems
Oversees preventative maintenance program; ensures upkeep of machinery and the facility through daily work orders; schedules work during down time and weekends
Coordinate the proper handling of waste materials in accordance with company policy and legislated/regulatory requirements
Champion/support security within the facility
Monitor and control utility costs for the facility
Ensures employees are conversant with and adhere to TS16949, ISO14001 and 5S requirements
Manages progressive discipline attendance program and resolves staff issues in accordance with terms of the Collective Agreement
Enforces all safety and work rules; counsel employees about unacceptable behaviour
Liaises with Payroll Administrator to resolve Time and Attendance exception issues
Purchases equipment and parts; recommends use of specialized, outside help when necessary
Holds departmental meetings on a timely basis to ensure employees are kept informed and motivated; communicates all changes in policies and procedures; properly documents meeting content and attendance
Administers first aid, when necessary, and completes appropriate treatment and accident forms
Ensures employee vacation requests are entered into Time and Attendance system properly
Ensures employees receive proper and sufficient training; record all training on appropriate forms
Complies with requirements and assists in maintenance of the necessary quality standards (QS9000/ISO/TS16949/ISO14001) to ensure re-certification
Complies with rules, regulations and safety procedures regarding Emergency Equipment usage (fire extinguishers)
Actively participates in ongoing continuous improvement activities and initiatives
Ensures full compliance with terms, conditions and requirements of Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992
Required Skills
Minimum Qualifications

Licensed Industrial Millwright
Knowledge of PLCs and Tool & Die Processes
Familiarity with TS16949 and ISO 14,001
Certified according to Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992
SAP/ERP experience
Excellent leadership and team skills
