Oversees all production functions of the Assembly Department. Maintains and meets production requirements and operates with high quality standards
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Always work in a safe manner;
- Assure that all safety rules are being followed and enforced;
- Maintain and follow company rules, policies and procedures;
- Review daily startups, enforce the 5 “S” principle, check all operating conditions, confirm use of appropriate Operating Standards, ensure all safety requirements are met, and coach associates’ performance accordingly;
- Lead daily meetings with your team to inform them of the day’s production requirements, upcoming events, quality concerns, delivery requirements, safety priorities, and 5S principles and practices;
- Make sure all checklists and production records are current and properly posted;
- Use manpower efficiently to maintain a good quality product and proper inventory levels;
- Perform spot checks of every station to ensure a quality product is being produced;
- Assist with line-side quality decisions;
- Ensure that Assembly maintains all documents required by LTI in IATF16949 format;
- Enforce all ISO & IATF policies and procedures;
- Follow daily production schedule to maintain proper inventory levels;
- Check to make sure all shutdown and end-of-shift procedures are followed;
- Monitor associates’ break & lunch times for punctuality;
- Attend to associates’ daily time away from work with any required vacation schedules and/or daily flex, monitoring for attendance and proper levels of associate manpower;
- Conduct post-shift reports to be communicated to all management through email notification;
- Communicate appropriate information with the Team Leader of the next shift regarding production, quality, safety, delivery, and 5S;
- Take steps to continuously improve processes and cycle times;
- Report to manager regarding countermeasures taken, progress in quality, safety, delivery, productivity, and 5S;
- Participate with manager, peers, and associates in improvement measures and countermeasure implementation, including CAR and 5P completions and follow-up;
- Participate in GTTS meetings;
- Ensure timely departmental preparation for New Model startups;
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of action items for the monthly action plan meetings;
- Create a comfortable work atmosphere by attending to problems (personal and production) promptly, issuing coaching for better performance and communicate to HR with appropriate info for associate tracking;
- Continuously communicate with all associates within the department to maintain high morale and a good company-wide knowledge of all company situations;
- Attend to mandatory administrative tasks, data collection, problem analysis, action item follow-up, suggestion follow-up, and meeting and presentation preparations;
- Participate in company-sponsored training, and implement skills that were learned;
- Continuously communicate with manager and peers in other departments in a clear manner regarding the status of operations;
- Ensure that the associates are properly trained and are capable of doing the job that they have been asked to do;
- Encourage associate participation and involvement;
- Plan, conduct and/or arrange training of associates as appropriate;
- Plan, conduct and/or arrange evaluation of associate training, as appropriate;
- Assist department Manager with the department action plan (monthly/yearly);
- Follow budget, trying to limit spending;
- Deal with suppliers, and customers - internal and external - as required;
- Support all company decisions;Directly supervises all subordinates in the Assembly Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Post Secondary Education; previous supervisory experience or Technician level at LTI.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICALS SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
