Your Opportunity:
The Head and Neck Oncology Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practices in an ambulatory setting, integrating knowledge of head and neck cancer pathophysiology, disease progression, and symptoms to provide safe, evidence-based care for patients and families. The LPN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates best practice interventions and other clinical activities for individuals with oral cavity, pharyngeal, laryngeal, and related malignancies across the cancer continuum. The LPN identifies and assesses physical, psychological, sociological, nutritional, and spiritual needs. The nurse conducts focused and holistic assessments, interprets clinical information, and collaborates with oncologists and interprofessional team members to develop and revise person centered care plans. Referrals are facilitated to additional disciplines to ensure timely, coordinated responses to patient and family needs. A key responsibility is early recognition and management of priority situations, including oncologic emergencies such as airway compromise, severe bleeding, or sepsis, ensuring that urgent issues are triaged and escalated efficiently. The LPN applies oncology knowledge and technical skills for assessment, establishes and documents nursing care, and prioritizes teaching, supporting, informing, and advocating for patients and families. Leadership is demonstrated through acting as a resource, preceptor, or mentor, consistent with oncology nursing practice standards. The LPN maintains required certifications, engages in ongoing professional education, and participates in staff and patient teaching.
