Key Responsibilities

Road Maintenance:
Report asphalt pavement deterioration.

Perform crack sealing.

Perform surface sealing.

Patch broken areas and potholes.

Bridge Maintenance:
Strip and replace deck planks.

Bridge deck cleaning and repair.

Drainage:
Culvert replacement and disposal.

Roadside ditch and drainage course excavation.

Beaver dam removal.

Roadside Brush Control:
Brush clearing.

Landscaping.

Signage and Wayfinding:
Traffic control – flagging.

Install and maintain road signs.

Waste and Garbage Collection

Collect and dispose dead animal carcass.

Collect and dispose waste and garbage.

Loading, Unloading and Transportation of Materials and Equipment:

Identify existing and predictable hazards.

Load materials.

Restrict personnel on foot from loading zone.

Secure load.

Tow trailers.

Equipment Maintenance:
Perform pre-trip inspections.

Perform post-trip inspections.

Maintain equipment records.

Perform basic service and maintenance of equipment.

Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.

Required Qualifications
Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and an acceptable 5-year commercial drivers abstract.
Defensive Driving.
Ground Disturbance Safety Training.
Standard First Aid and CPR.
Safety training in the following areas: National Safety Codes, Pre-trip Inspection, Flag Person Training Course, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Forklift Operator Certification, Coupling/Uncoupling, Cargo Securement - Rigging and Slinging, Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator - Boom Truck, Chainsaw Safety, Fire Extinguisher, Overhead Powerline, Customer Service.

Remuneration and Benefits
$21.01 - $24.56

Additional Information
10 Full Time Positions (Seasonal –Temporary)
Varied start and end dates from April 1 – October 25, 2019

Hours of Work - 40 hours per week – some overtime may be required
