Major Responsibilities
Available to work your regular shifts and be on call as required.
Maintain good housekeeping and contribute towards improvement in maintenance department.
Be dedicated to safety and respect hazards as related to the machines and your job.
Ability to plan, troubleshoot, repair, fill out requisitions for items that need to be sent for repair as well as new part requirements with proper specifications.
Ability to bring the machine to the same level as before a breakdown (including clean up, putting the tools back, filling required forms for future and other team members reference).
Ability to communicate and share knowledge thoroughly with others.
Ability to learn and progress to highest maintenance skill level within the company.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Be motivated to take on new responsibilities and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to write PM’s, set-up and troubleshooting Procedures for Plant Equipment.
Ability to undertake Preventive Maintenance and attend to all assigned maintenance work.
Gain working experience to troubleshoot and repair plant wide machineries in a timely and effective manner.
Supervise all staff work on breakdowns, efficient utilization of labour and proper recording of such.
Ability to undertake all aspects of continuous improvement projects from design stage to completion for any production equipment.
Participate in departmental meetings.
Carry out technical PM’s, review and adapt PM procedures.
Develop new PM’s as required.
Repair, allocation, modification of electronic/electrical equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair machine breakdowns and out of standard conditions.
Write reports on breakdowns for follow up on equipment listings.
Carry out minor installations, training of all electricians and electrical basics of mechanics.
Monitor safe condition of all electrical equipment and ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
Maintain presses, injection units and paintline equipment.
Report and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
Assist in the development of repair, set-up, and troubleshooting procedures.
Update press, injection units and paintline equipment documentation as required.
Perform hydro coordination and electrical system maintenance
Be responsible for gas, water, electrical, HVAC, process equipment, office lunch rooms, lighting, generators, docks, doors, lifting devices, process equipment training of staff, work order system, alarm monitoring, equipment down time system and energy efficiency and fix cost management.
Liaison with TSSA, ESA.
Prepare preliminary capital budgets for process equipment, working with supported departments.
Work on CIP projects, programming, design, etc. of high complexity.
Perform employee safety observations.
Comply with Section 27 of the OHSA.
Perform regular workplace inspections.
Correct regular safety talks.
Correct unsafe acts or conditions.
Be involved with accident/incident investigation process.
Commend or correct health and safety performance.
Train new employee of Job Specific Hazards.
Responsible for the general safety of the plant equipment and personnel.
Able to work overtime as required.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Responsible for proper handling, storage and disposal of all chemicals, used materials and equipment.
Any other reasonable request made by Management.
Knowledge and Education
Minimum five (5) years hands-on
Ontario Industrial Electrician 442A Certificate required.
Work Experience
Minimum five (5) years hands-on
Ontario Industrial Electrician 442A Certificate required.
Able to focus/work on energy savings projects.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of and experience in design, engineering and installation of:
Trade practice and electrical theory.
Service control and protective devices.
Power and control systems.
Strong knowledge in PLC systems, programming, development, troubleshooting.
Motors AC and DC.
Pneumatic and hydraulic systems, servo controls, electronics.
Injection moulding, plastics or RIM/RIMM manufacturing, processing and paintline equipment.
Process control systems.
Electrical installation procedures.
Measurement, recording and monitoring techniques and applications.
Heating and cooling systems as well as Auxiliary system and equipment.
System analysis and troubleshooting.
Knowledge and understanding of electrical circuits.
Flexible to support multiple plants.
Project Management skills.
Knowledge of facility maintenance, sprinkler systems/roof system/water supply and drainage system/shipping doors and docks.
Knowledge of CMMS.
G1 gas technician licence – preferable.
Must have knowledge of current health and safety standard and code requirement.
Basic Computer skills.
Basic understanding of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) approach.
Must have ability to work well under pressure.
Must be available to work on weekend and on statutory holiday as needed.
Must have proven ability that above noted knowledge can be applied on a practical level.
