THE POSITION
The Estimator & Procurement Manager plays a critical role in the successful execution andprofitability of every project. This position is responsible for accurately estimating projectcosts, sourcing materials, negotiating with vendors, purchasing supplies, and ensuringmaterials are available to support production schedules.
Working closely with Sales, Project Management, Design, Production, and Operations, this role combines analytical thinking, commercial awareness, and strong supplier relationship management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This position directly impacts profitability by controlling material costs, improving purchasingefficiencies, and supporting accurate project pricing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Estimating
- Prepare accurate and competitive project estimates based on drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Review architectural drawings, engineering documents, and design files.
- Calculate labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor, shipping, and installation costs.
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify project risks and potential cost impacts.
- Assist Sales with pricing strategies and proposal preparation.
- Maintain estimating templates and pricing databases.
- Review completed projects to compare estimated versus actual costs.
- Continuously improve estimating accuracy.
Procurement
- Source and purchase all required materials for production and installation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Issue purchase orders and track deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock as required.
- Ensure materials meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Resolve supplier shortages and delivery issues.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and consumables.
- Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Improve inventory accuracy, conduct inventory audits, reduce obsolete inventory.
- Assist in implementing inventory management best practices.
Cost Management
- Analyze project profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor material price fluctuations and assist with annual budgeting.
- Support Operations with purchasing forecasts and develop vendor performancemetrics.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 3–5+ years of estimating experience withinthe signage, manufacturing, construction,millwork, or related industry.
- Experience with procurement andpurchasing.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings andspecifications.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong computer proficiency (MicrosoftOffice).
- Exceptional organizational and timemanagement skills.
Preferred:
- Experience within the signage industry.
- Experience using ShopVox or similar ERPsystems.
- Knowledge of signage manufacturing processes and fabrication methods.
- Experience reading architectural drawings.
- APICS or Supply Chain certification
