Covia is looking for a dynamic Maintenance Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Havelock, Ontario location. As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will direct and maintain the efficient operation of all mechanical equipment and labour in the Maintenance Department in the safest manner possible for the Blue Mountain Plant.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

Provide Safety, Environmental and Quality leadership through mentoring, motivating and administration of the maintenance department consisting of millwrights and established apprenticeship program.
Maintain a high level of safety understanding and promoting all regulations, company policies and procedures.
Complete regular safety inspections of maintenance work areas. Reinforce and document safe work behaviours through SBI observations.
Lead formal monthly safety meetings, complete job hazard analysis, high risk work permit documentation. Promote and act to support a high level of site housekeeping, ergonomic initiatives, and reduced employee dust exposure.
Ensure timely investigation and reporting on all safety incidents including participation in ICAM investigations as required. Ensure compliance with report recommendations to prevent further occurrences through follow up and utilization of site action management system.
Evaluate individual employee and department-wide skill levels to develop training as required with support of other departments.
Work with the maintenance leadership team to plan, assign, direct and inspect the efficient completion of work orders developed through IFS maintenance system to ensure maximum equipment availability.
Ensure proper documentation is maintained for equipment inspections, field measurements, and work order completion.
Develop periodic reports of maintenance department activities and improvements.
Recommend spare parts and stock levels and order parts as needed maintain proper bill of materials.
Provide input for Capital Budget submissions
Promote all change initiatives as prescribed by Plant Management.
Maintains good labor relationships with hourly and other staff employees through consistent application of the CBA.
Handle grievances at first-stage and suggest resolutions.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

Trade certificate in applicable field is required
4+ years experience in a maintenance industrial setting strongly preferred - experience in crushing, screening, or mining an asset
Supervisory experience required
Advanced excel skills and process analysis experience are required
Must possess a working knowledge and experience with the application of a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and manuals
Must have safety focused leadership and teamwork mindset
