We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time Swim Instructor to join our 7-week summer camp. This role involves teaching swimming skills to children of various ages and skill levels in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong teaching abilities, a passion for water safety, and excellent communication skills. As a Swim Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping campers build confidence and competence in the water while promoting a positive learning experience.
Qualifications
- Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification (SI) required.
- Current National Lifeguard certification preferred.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C preferred.
- Experience teaching swimming lessons to children is an asset.
- Must provide a vulnerable sector check
Responsibilities
- Conduct swimming lessons for children based on their skill levels and individual needs
- Develop lesson plans that focus on water safety, stroke development, and overall aquatic skills
- Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and monitoring activities during lessons
- Provide constructive feedback to students to encourage progress and confidence
- Maintain a clean and organized lesson area, including pool deck and equipment
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Uphold all safety protocols and emergency procedures at all times
Experience
- Prior experience teaching children is strongly preferred
- Strong swimming skills with the ability to demonstrate techniques clearly
- Knowledge of water safety practices and rescue procedures is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly, patient demeanor
- Passion for teaching and helping others develop their swimming abilities
