Reporting to the Coordinator or Manager, the Ambulatory Clerk contributes to the organizational day to day support in an outpatient department by acting as the main communication link, supporting reception & patient registration, scheduling and booking of patient appointments, diagnostic testing, lab and patient care orderables, as well as supporting the interdisciplinary clinical team.
Rate of Pay: $21.471 per hour - $23.241 per hour
Hours of Work: up to 22.5 hours/week
Duration: March 2, 2020 - September 21 2021
Successful completion of a Secondary School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Successful completion of a Health Care Office Assistant Certificate
Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, i.e., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Electronic Patient Record, Workload Measurement
Previous experience working with Patient Registration preferred
Demonstrated proficient knowledge with Medical Terminology
Demonstrated proficiency with Health Records protocols and standards
Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both written and verbal)
Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve
Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of public relations protocol and patient confidentiality
Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step)
