Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Childcare Educator Level 3 to join The Blossoms Daycare team.
The ideal candidate is a strong classroom educator who can word independently, lead children's programming, conduct engaging daily circle times, facilitate group learning experiences, and create a positive learning environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong classroom leadership, activity planning, storytelling, child observation, parent communication, and documentation skills.
The position is intended for a committed professional who is interested in a stable, long-term career opportunity and becoming a valued member of our team. Due to the significant investment involved in onboarding, training, and supporting staff, preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a genuine interest in building a long-term career in early childhood education and contributing to the ongoing success of our program.
The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of child development for children aged 12 months to 6 years and be able to plan and implement programs that support children at various stages of development.
Only applicants holding a valid Alberta Child Care Supervisor Certification (Level 3) and possessing demonstrated experience in classroom programming, circle time leadership, storytelling, activity planning, and digital parent communication will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences and weekly programs for children.
- Lead daily circle times, storytelling sessions, and engaging group learning activities.
- Create age-appropriate indoor and outdoor programming that supports children's development and learning.
- Adapt programming to meet the individual needs of all children, including those with special needs and diverse abilities.
- Observe and document children's development and learning.
- Complete professional daily digital reports, parent communications, and classroom documentation.
- Maintain a safe, organized, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, illnesses, injuries, and behavioural situations in accordance with licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and daycare policies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Child Care Supervisor Certification (Level 3) – Mandatory.
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading classroom programming, circle time, storytelling, and group learning activities.
- Strong knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices for children aged 12 months to 6 years.
- Experience planning and implementing developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
- Ability to effectively support children with diverse abilities and special needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional daily digital reports for families.
- Strong classroom management, observation, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond effectively during emergencies and challenging situations.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with Alberta Flight Framework, emergent curriculum, and observation-based programming.
- Experience working with toddler and preschool programs.
- Experience supporting inclusive childcare environments.
