Overview
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer (EIT) to join our dynamic engineering team. Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian university
- Registered EIT or recent graduate eligible for registration
- Experience with P&ID development and piping systems is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with engineering piping software
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD is considered an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Plant Leads, Sales Director, and cross‑functional teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks
Role Responsibilities:
Project Delivery
- Perform document reviews, engineering calculations, and design tasks
- Develop application‑specific P&IDs for tailings hydro and underflow piping systems in Oil Sands operations
- Apply knowledge of process piping, pipe stress, and related engineering calculations
- Demonstrate understanding of materials, operational constraints, and interdisciplinary design impacts
- Participate in drawing reviews and oversee technical aspects of drawing production
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Manage RFIs and document control processes
- Support fabrication of Issued for Construction (IFC) work packages
- Assist the Quality Control Manager with ABSA and CWB regulatory compliance
Design Oversight
- Guide and complete technical designs following standardized drafting and design procedures
- Apply engineering knowledge to solve design challenges and contribute actively to design development
- Support the creation and refinement of internal engineering specifications for product design
Professional Practice
- Demonstrate professional integrity, accountability, and sound engineering judgment
- Apply knowledge of relevant codes, standards, regulations, and safety practices
- Identify technical risks and propose effective mitigation strategies
- Understand safeguards required to protect the public and mitigate adverse impacts
- Recognize the role and expectations of regulatory bodies in engineering practice
