We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Insulation Superintendent to oversee industrial insulation projects from planning to completion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily field operations, ensuring insulation work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and within budget. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of industrial insulation systems and installation methods, and the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and field crews.
The Insulation Superintendent will play a key role in maintaining quality standards, driving productivity, and ensuring all work complies with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily insulation activities, ensuring work is completed according to project plans, schedules, and safety requirements.
- Lead and manage insulation foremen, journeypersons, apprentices, and subcontractors to maximize productivity and workmanship quality.
- Review project drawings, specifications, work packages, and contract documents to ensure accurate execution of insulation scopes.
- Plan manpower, equipment, and material requirements to support project schedules and milestones.
- Monitor project progress and adjust resources as required to meet deadlines and client expectations.
- Conduct regular field inspections to ensure insulation installations meet quality standards, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, general contractors, and other trades to resolve field issues and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Assist with project budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and reporting on project performance.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and properly utilized to support field operations.
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures while promoting a strong safety culture on all job sites.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site inspections to maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Complete and maintain project documentation, including daily reports, progress updates, timesheets, and safety records.
- Support project turnover activities, including deficiency management and final inspections.
Skills
- Proven experience supervising industrial insulation projects in sectors such as oil & gas, mining, power generation, petrochemical, or commercial/industrial construction.
- Strong knowledge of insulation materials, installation methods, heat tracing systems, cladding/jacketing systems, and industry best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, isometrics, and construction documents.
- Experience with project planning, scheduling, workforce management, and productivity tracking.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and insulation inspection requirements.
- Strong budgeting and cost management skills with the ability to monitor project expenditures and labor performance.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing crews in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with clients, project teams, and field personnel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites as required.
