Armada Nowlit Energy Ltd. is seeking a motivated and technically strong Intermediate Process Engineer to join our growing energy infrastructure team in Calgary.
This role is ideal for an engineer with 3–5 years of hands-on process engineering experience in natural gas, utilities, power generation, gas processing, or industrial energy infrastructure. The successful candidate will support the design, development, permitting, execution, and operational readiness of natural gas-fired power generation and utility-related projects across Alberta.
As Armada Nowlit Energy continues to develop distributed power and energy infrastructure projects, this position will play an important role in supporting technical design, equipment evaluation, vendor coordination, process documentation, and engineering execution from early-stage development through construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support process engineering design and technical review for natural gas-fired power generation facilities, utility systems, gas handling systems, and related industrial infrastructure.
- Prepare, review, and support the development of process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, technical datasheets, process calculations, design summaries, and engineering deliverables.
- Assist with the evaluation and selection of major equipment, including natural gas generators, gas conditioning equipment, fuel gas systems, utility systems, piping, valves, and auxiliary process equipment.
- Review vendor technical information, drawings, specifications, and proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements, operational needs, safety standards, and regulatory expectations.
- Support gas supply review, fuel gas requirements, utility demand calculations, equipment sizing, and process optimization for project development and execution.
- Work closely with internal project managers, operations teams, engineering consultants, vendors, contractors, and regulatory advisors to support project delivery.
- Provide technical input for permitting, regulatory applications, environmental submissions, construction planning, and commissioning preparation.
- Support emissions-related data collection, fuel consumption review, operating parameter evaluation, and technical documentation required for regulatory and environmental compliance.
- Assist in identifying engineering risks, design gaps, constructability issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Participate in project meetings, technical reviews, site planning discussions, and coordination with external stakeholders.
- Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, start-up, and early operations as required.
- Maintain organized technical documentation and ensure project information is accurate, consistent, and up to date.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant process engineering experience.
- Experience with natural gas systems, utility infrastructure, gas plants, power generation, fuel gas systems, or industrial energy projects.
- Strong understanding of process design principles, equipment specifications, piping systems, gas handling, utility systems, and industrial operations.
- Ability to read and review technical drawings, process documents, vendor packages, equipment datasheets, and engineering deliverables.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- P.Eng. eligibility in Alberta is preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in natural gas-fired power generation, distributed power, gas processing, oil and gas facilities, utilities, or industrial plant operations.
- Familiarity with Alberta regulatory processes, environmental permitting, AUC, AER, EPEA, or municipal development applications is considered an asset.
- Experience working with engineering consultants, EPC firms, equipment vendors, contractors, or field operations teams.
- Knowledge of emissions data, fuel consumption, equipment performance, or environmental compliance requirements is an asset.
- Field exposure, commissioning support, or operational troubleshooting experience is considered a strong advantage.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is practical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a project-driven environment. You are able to connect engineering design with real-world execution, understand how equipment will operate in the field, and communicate technical information clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
You should be comfortable reviewing technical documents, asking the right questions, coordinating with consultants and vendors, and supporting projects from early concept through execution. This role is well suited for someone who wants to grow with a fast-moving energy infrastructure company and take on meaningful responsibility across multiple active projects.
Why Join Armada Nowlit Energy
This is an opportunity to be directly involved in the development of practical energy infrastructure projects across Alberta, including natural gas-fired power generation, distributed power systems, utility infrastructure, and industrial energy facilities.
