Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant/ Controller to oversee our financial activities and ensure the accurate and efficient management of our company's finances. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets to provide accurate and timely financial information to management.
- Monitor cash flow, track expenses, and manage invoicing and billing processes to ensure timely payment and collection of funds.
- Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to track project costs, analyze variances, and ensure accurate project accounting.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules and oversee the capital asset management process.
- Assist with financial forecasting, budgeting, and planning activities to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
- Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements affecting the construction industry, and ensure compliance with relevant guidelines.
- Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals as needed to support financial audits and reviews.
- Provide financial analysis and support to management on ad hoc projects and initiatives as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation or working towards completion preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction industry is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing, progress billing, revenue recognition and hold backs.
- Proficiency in accounting software AccountEdge.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling and analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of relevant tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements for construction companies.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate with professionalism and collaborate effectively with KPMG.
- This is an in office position
