Lumiro Hub is seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and reliable Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese Teacher to lead engaging language classes for young children. The successful candidate will foster children's interest in Mandarin through songs, games, stories, movement, conversation, and interactive learning while supporting language development, confidence, and cultural awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver a minimum of one 1-hour Mandarin/Cantonese class per week. Additional classes may be assigned based on enrolment and program demand.
- Create and plan Mandarin/Cantonese lesson plans and monthly learning themes.
- Teach age-appropriate Mandarin/Cantonese vocabulary, pronunciation, conversation, songs, stories, and cultural activities.
- Adapt lessons to different ages, language abilities, and learning styles.
- Create an engaging and interactive language-learning environment.
- Track attendance accurately.
- Observe and document each child's language development and progress.
- Provide monthly lesson plans and end-of-month reports.
- Prepare children for language showcases and cultural events.
- Maintain teaching materials and classroom resources.
- Support children individually within a group setting.
- Maintain professional communication with families and staff.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working with children is required.
- Experience teaching Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese is required.
- Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese is required. English communication skills are also required.
- Experience working with children aged 2–6 years in an ECE, ECA, RECE, childcare, or educational setting is required.
- A passion for language education, Chinese culture, and early childhood learning is essential.
- Teaching credentials, OCT, ECE, ECA, or related qualifications are considered an asset.
- Strong classroom management, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is required.
- Valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C Certification is required.
- This job is only open to candidates that are currently legally entitled to work in Canada.
Pay: $17.60-$30.00 per hour
