Role Overview
Durwest is hiring a Labourer to support our site teams in delivering high-quality residential and commercial construction projects on time and on budget. This role is central to the safe, efficient day-to-day operation of our active construction sites.
As a Labourer, you will work closely with carpenters, tradespeople, and site supervisors to support construction activities, maintain a clean and safe worksite, and ensure materials and tools are ready when needed. Your work will directly contribute to project momentum and the professional environment our teams and clients expect.
Key Focus Areas
Site Preparation + General Labour
- Assist with site setup, demolition, excavation support, and general cleanup to maintain a safe and organized worksite.
Material Handling + Equipment Support
- Load, unload, and move construction materials.
- Operate basic hand and power tools; support tradespeople with materials as directed.
Site Safety + Compliance
- Follow all WorkSafeBC regulations and Durwest safety protocols.
- Wear required PPE and participate in daily toolbox talks and site orientations.
Collaboration + Communication
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.
- Take direction well, ask questions when uncertain, and contribute positively to a respectful site culture.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or a physically demanding outdoor role is preferred but not required – we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions, including lifting, carrying, digging, and standing for extended periods.
- Commitment to following safe work procedures and maintaining a clean, hazard-free work environment at all times.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions effectively.
- A positive, team-first attitude and a track record of reliability and punctuality.
