Playful Paws Dog Daycare & Training Facility is a well-established daycare with an amazing client base and a demand for a wide variety of training services. Located in Burnside, and open Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 6:30pm.
The successful candidate will work with our daycare team on dog training and handling, to ensure our entire team is always consistent in our methods. The main focus on the job will be on our specialized daycare program, private trainings, group classes, and other training programs. Bring your energy and ideas as the possibilities are endless for the right candidate!
We require the following:
A team player: We are all a team here, for both the dog’s success and for our success - you must play well with others, two legged and four legged! Being a smaller facility, we all do ALL the things at times. Your position will be focused on training, but will also involve daycare shifts and days may range from poop scooping and dog handling to client interactions and training.
A positive reinforcement-based trainer with a balanced approach is appreciated. Our methods and classes are all maintained and created; however, we too are also open to learning. The programs and classes are and will remain property of Playful Paws.
You MUST be a people person as well as a dog person: a great team culture and a great client experience are hallmarks of the Playful Paws experience!
Leadership skills: Our Trainer position is considered a leadership position and you will be expected to provide some guidance/feedback/knowledge to the team and the dog parents on a day-to-day basis.
You must have certification as a dog trainer from a recognized dog training school. Other certifications considered an asset.
A good command of English, both written and spoken is required as well as basic computer skills. Reliable transportation is essential in order for you to be considered for this position.
Our facility is located at 60 Thornhill Drive, Dartmouth, NS, training programs are offered off site as well.
