The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. Position Summary
The General Manager is accountable for the overall performance and success of the operation, ensuring the efficient production, packing, shipping, and delivery of meals while maintaining high standards in customer service, food safety, financial performance, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance. This role provides leadership across Production, Shipping & Receiving, Richmond Operations, Warehouse, Administration, Health & Safety/Quality Assurance, and Delivery functions.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Lead daily operations to ensure all departments function efficiently and meet performance expectations.
- Establish daily priorities and resolve operational issues affecting production, shipping, delivery, staffing, or customer service.
- Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to monitor productivity, quality, sanitation, and safety standards.
- Ensure managers and supervisors are accountable for departmental performance and completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Production & Delivery Management
- Oversee meal production, packaging, shipping, and delivery activities to ensure customer commitments are achieved.
- Monitor production schedules, staffing requirements, and operational readiness.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with client expectations.
- Coordinate corrective actions for service interruptions, delivery delays, product issues, or customer concerns.
Financial Management
- Manage labour, food, inventory, and operating costs to achieve financial targets.
- Review payroll, purchasing, invoicing, accounts payable, and budget performance.
- Monitor financial metrics and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Participate in financial reviews and implement action plans to address variances.
Inventory & Purchasing Oversight
- Ensure inventory levels support production requirements while minimizing waste and excess stock.
- Review forecasts, supplier performance, purchasing plans, and inventory controls.
- Oversee inventory reporting, transfers, adjustments, and month-end inventory processes.
Leadership & People Management
- Coach, support, and develop managers and supervisors.
- Foster accountability, communication, and collaboration across departments.
- Address performance issues and support workforce planning and staffing initiatives.
- Lead management meetings and ensure follow-through on operational priorities and corrective actions.
Compliance, Food Safety & Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, HACCP, health and safety, and regulatory standards.
- Lead operational audits, facility inspections, and corrective action initiatives.
- Maintain required safety, quality assurance, and training documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Customer & Client Relations
- Ensure client expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
- Resolve service issues, complaints, and delivery concerns promptly and effectively.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and service performance.
Ongoing Accountabilities
- Lead weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual operational and financial reviews.
- Oversee payroll submissions, inventory reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and compliance activities.
- Ensure facility maintenance, equipment management, and operational standards are maintained.
- Develop strategic plans to support future growth, operational excellence, and profitability.
