JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing administrative support to the Manager Housing Programs, along with administering various aspects pertaining to reviewing

applications for eligibility and completion evaluating criteria has been met by applicants for qualified participation in the Welcome Home and Niagara

Renovates Programs.

EDUCATION

  • 2 year post-secondary diploma in Office Administration, Business or other related field
KNOWLEDGE

  • At least 3 years of senior administrative experience working in a computerized office environment.
  • Experience in social housing or human services is preferred
  • Related professional certification in public sector management
  • Microsoft Office capable, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Bilingual English and French is considered an asset
RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Providing administrative support, including but not limited to: (60% of time)

  • Assisting with the planning, coordination and implementation of the social housing programs.
  • Undertaking processes to improve and enhance administrative functions related to the support of social housing development
programs.
  • Acting as a liaison between the manager’s office and staff, other levels of government, housing providers, customers and the
general public

  • Support the activities of the Provider Advisory Committee, education events and conferences
  • Provide administrative support to the Manager of Housing Programs and Housing Programs team
  • Resolving telephone inquiries of a routine nature as well as determining the nature and urgency of more complex issues and
directing to appropriate staff for resolution

  • Complete back up coverage for the coordinator and administrative roles within the division as required
2. Administering the Niagara Renovates Program and Home Ownership Program, including but not limited to: (40% of time)

  • Reviewing applications for eligibility and completion, evaluate against criteria, monitor progress (visits), and generate payment
of contractors.

  • Collect client information related to finances, home ownership, and family composition to process documentation for funding
program.

  • Liaise with Legal, Finance, and Banking institutions to negotiate terms of home ownership and renovates program.
  • Providing statistics and liaise with the Province time and budget progression, and report any deviation.
  • Recommends allocation of program funding within approved funding envelope
  • Refers requests outside of program guidelines to next level of authority
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit
a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate
