Position Summary
Actalent is a global leader in Engineering Services and human capital solutions. We are seeking mechanical designers to join our technical team, reporting to an Actalent technical manager and project lead. This role will present the opportunity to support a variety of interesting projects and customers, the first of which is a project from a client that designs and manufactures hyperscale cooling and modular data center solutions.
The Mechanical Designer will be part of a design team designing pipes and equipment to support the development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDU). They will also produce drawings to support the procurement and manufacturing of the design.
Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) is a must for this initial project, as well as working with common industrial specifications.
Job Responsibilities
· Design of piping to support Coolant Distribution Units (CDU) using piping standards
· Experience in designing modular equipment
· Design supports for the pipes used in the CDU
· Produce traditional 3D drawings for pipes
· Apply the proper GD&T to the design using ASME Y14.5.
· Design taking applying standard and ensure DFM and DFA
· Work as a part of the team designing the CDU
· Will own the work package assigned to them
Required Skills & Experience:
· Minimum of five years experience in a similar role
· Experience in ASME Y14.5
· Experience with DFM and DFA
· Experience with CAD 3D software, Experience in CREO is preferable
· Experience communicating and interfacing with a wide range of stakeholders
· Technical Diploma in Mechanical Technology, or Engineering (Engineering not required)
Desired Skills & Experience:
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Use of standard office tools and proven experience with tools such as DOORS, UML tools, ERPs and other Configuration Management tools.
