Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient office processes, and supporting our financial functions. This position requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of bookkeeping and payroll processes in the transportation industry. Having knowledge in both federal and provincial transportation legislation is an asset. The successful candidate must have either a degree in Business Admin or an Accounting degree. Benefits will be discussed at time of the interview.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Perform account reconciliation and bank reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
- Complete payroll processing, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and accuracy in employee compensation.
- Utilize Axon and Sage accounting software for bookkeeping tasks and financial reporting.
- Conduct account analysis and budgeting to support financial planning and decision-making within the organization.
- Maintain organized records of financial transactions, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline office operations and improve overall efficiency.
- Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and maintaining office supplies.
Experience
- Proven experience in an office administration role or similar position is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, account analysis, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Axon and Sage is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-focused approach.
