Job Overview
We are a small commercial construction company servicing the KW region with clients ranging from The Region of Waterloo to The University of Waterloo. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Foreman to join our team and oversee construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry skills, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for quality control. As a Construction Foreman, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all on-site activities, ensuring that projects are completed on time, working with construction crews, ensuring quality control.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage construction teams to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Collaborate with project managers on budgeting and resource allocation for each project phase.
- Complete various construction tasks to maintain progression of projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide construction activities.
- Assist in construction estimating by providing input on labor, materials, and equipment needs.
- Train and mentor team members in best practices for construction techniques and safety protocols.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise on-site promptly and effectively.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Construction Foreman/lead hand or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality control processes, carpentry skills, construction project sequence.
- Excellent blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret schematics accurately.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to effectively manage teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
