Role Overview
The Content Officer, Annual Giving supports St. Paul’s Foundation’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts through compelling, donor-centered storytelling across digital and print channels. This role develops impactful content for campaigns, stewardship, and donor communications that inspires support, strengthens relationships, and demonstrates the real-world impact of philanthropy on patients, families, and health care teams. Working collaboratively across departments, the Content Officer combines creativity, strategy, and data-informed insights to help drive donor engagement, retention, and annual giving growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce donor-centered content across digital and print channels, including email appeals, SMS campaigns, direct mail, landing pages, stewardship communications, and fundraising campaigns.
- Create compelling storytelling that highlights the impact of philanthropy on patients, families, health care teams, and communities to support donor acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue growth.
- Collaborate with Annual Giving, Communications, and Business Intelligence teams to execute integrated fundraising campaigns and donor journeys.
- Write and adapt content for multiple audiences and platforms, ensuring consistency in brand voice, tone, and messaging across all communications.
- Support the creation of fundraising materials including calling scripts, event-related content, cases for support, proposals, and donor stewardship touchpoints.
- Conduct interviews and research with donors, staff, volunteers, patients, and community partners to gather stories and develop authentic, impact-driven content.
- Build and manage fundraising content within digital platforms such as Mailchimp, Fundraise Up, and related marketing tools.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and adapt creative assets for fundraising campaigns, including digital ads, email graphics, and social media content.
- Monitor and evaluate campaign and content performance using data, reporting, and donor insights to improve engagement and fundraising outcomes.
- Support testing and optimization strategies, including A/B testing, segmentation, and donor journey refinement to enhance campaign effectiveness.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Successful completion of postsecondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related discipline, required.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in communications, content development, or marketing, with a strong emphasis on writing and storytelling, required.
- Proven ability to develop engaging, multi-channel content that aligns with brand voice and audience needs.
- Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, or mission-driven environment—particularly in donor or stakeholder communications, is an asset.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, and Monday.com is considered an asset.
