Fundraising Manager
40 hours/week
The Fundraising Manager supports all Canadian locations. Therefore, the successful candidate may work out of the Waterloo office, or another community office, (depending on space availability). Karis Disability Services operates offices in Waterloo, London, Toronto, Huntsville/Sudbury, Peterborough/Durham, Ottawa, and Saskatoon).

We are seeking an experienced and purpose-driven Fundraising Manager to lead our fundraising strategy, donor engagement efforts, and development programs. This is an exciting new position and an opportunity for a fundraising professional who is passionate about building meaningful donor relationships, driving growth, and helping advance a mission that creates lasting impact across Canada.
Reporting to the Vice President, Engagement & Partnerships, the Fundraising Manager provides strategic leadership for donor development, stewardship, fundraising campaigns, grant programs, legacy giving, donor systems, and team performance. This position plays a key role in attracting, engaging, retaining, and growing support from donors and partners who share Karis' commitment to creating communities where everyone belongs.
The Fundraising Manager embraces the Christian Faith Foundation of the organization; ensures the Christian ethos and the Values, Vision and Mission permeate their job responsibilities; and personally commits to the expectations as outlined in the Statement of Faith.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy & Donor Engagement
- Lead the development and execution of annual and monthly giving programs that achieve fundraising goals and drive sustainable growth.
- Develop donor engagement strategies that strengthen relationships across all donor segments.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities through donor insights, research, and market trends.
- Create exceptional donor experiences through personalized stewardship and relationship-building initiatives.
- Oversee grant-seeking activities, corporate giving opportunities, and donor cultivation efforts.
- Ensure donor communications effectively communicate impact and inspire generosity.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on fundraising performance and donor engagement outcomes
Campaigns, Communications & Events
- Lead the planning and execution of fundraising appeals, direct mail campaigns, and email communications.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop donor-centered content for print and digital channels.
- Oversee fundraising events, including Karis' signature fundraising initiatives such as Belongathon.
- Ensure all fundraising communications reflect the organization's Christian ethos and mission.
- Maintain effective donor segmentation, campaign reporting, and performance measurement practices.
Donor Systems & Data Management
- Oversee donor database management and gift processing excellence.
- Ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, privacy compliance, and process optimization.
- Leverage CRM capabilities, automation, and integrations to improve fundraising effectiveness.
- Analyze donor trends and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen donor retention and growth.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, coach, and develop the fundraising team to achieve annual objectives and professional growth.
- Collaborate with internal departments to support fundraising initiatives and organizational priorities.
- Manage departmental budgets, fundraising plans, and annual activity calendars.
- Build strong partnerships with churches, Christian organizations, community partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Support major gift, capital fundraising, grant, and legacy giving initiatives.
- Provide fundraising reports, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising, donor development, or project management
- Experience developing and executing fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship programs.
- Experience leading teams, projects, or cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience within the charitable, nonprofit, faith-based, or developmental services sectors is considered an asset
- University degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field
- Certificate in Fundraising Management (asset)
- CFRE designation or progress toward certification (asset)
- Knowledge of Canadian fundraising best practices and legislation
- Demonstrated leadership and team development experience
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
- Experience with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred)
