We are seeking a responsible, friendly, and outgoing individual to join our growing ophthalmology practice as a Part-Time Ophthalmic Technician. The successful candidate will be personable, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional patient care in a professional and compassionate environment.
This position requires regular availability on Mondays and Wednesdays, with occasional additional shifts as needed. The primary responsibility will be assisting patients with Visual Field testing, along with supporting a variety of ophthalmic diagnostic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and provide a positive, professional clinic experience
- Prepare examination and testing rooms, including cleaning and sanitization between patients
- Perform a variety of ophthalmic diagnostic tests and administer eye drops as directed
- Assist physicians and fellow technicians in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care
- Maintain clean, organized testing and work areas
- Accurately document patient information and test results
- Maintain patient confidentiality, privacy, and professionalism at all times
Qualifications
- Strong computer and data-entry skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent spoken and written English
Preferred Experience
While training will be provided to the successful candidate, preference will be given to applicants with:
- Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a similar clinical role
- Experience working in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with ophthalmic testing procedures and equipment
- Experience interacting directly with patients in a professional environment
Working Conditions & Compensation
- Approximately 16 hours per week
- On-site position in Charlottetown, PEI
- Fast-paced clinical environment
- Free on-site parking
- $21.00 per hour
