About the Role
The Heritage Tea Room is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our tea room. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys leading and developing a team, and is committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience in a warm and welcoming environment.
The Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operation, including team leadership, customer service, food quality, inventory management, and financial performance. Working closely with ownership, the successful candidate will help maintain the high standards and welcoming atmosphere that Heritage Tea Room is known for.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the tea room, including front and back-of-house activities.
- Lead and support team members to provide outstanding customer service.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and develop staff while fostering a positive and respectful workplace culture.
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and service standards are consistently maintained.
- Monitor labour costs, food costs, and inventory levels while assisting with purchasing and ordering supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Oversee cash handling procedures, daily reconciliations, and operational reporting.
- Coordinate special events, catering functions, and seasonal promotions as required.
- Work collaboratively with ownership to achieve operational goals, improve efficiencies, and support the continued growth of the business.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of restaurant or hospitality management experience.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Experience with staff scheduling, recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, inventory management, and cost control.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
- Food Handler Certification is required
