Position Summary
The Material Handling Team Member is responsible for ensuring materials, components, and finished goods move efficiently through production and shipping processes to meet customer demands.
This position is not a dedicated forklift role. Team Members are expected to rotate across multiple logistics functions, gaining skills in different areas of the department.
Department Roles Overview
- Ship Assist -Supports shipment preparation and staging
- Stamping - Supplies stamped parts from press operations to downstream production or storage
- Racks and Inventory Process - Manages racks, containers, and part flow between processes
- Conveyance -Moves materials throughout the plant using tuggers, carts, or automated systems
- Receiving - Receives incoming materials, parts, and supplier shipments
Work Schedule & Overtime
This position requires flexibility in work hours. Overtime is expected as part of the role and is scheduled based on customer demand and production requirements. Candidates must be willing and able to work extended hours, including occasional weekends, to support business needs.
Overtime Compensation
- Overtime premium is paid at 1.5x base rate of pay after 38.33 hours
- Double time premium is paid at 2x base rate of pay after 46 hours
Schedule Opportunities
- Rotating Shifts - Two weeks of day shift / two weeks of afternoon shift / repeat
- Straight midnight shift
Key Responsibilities
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts
- Receive, transport, and deliver materials to production areas on schedule
- Load and replenish weld cells with required parts and components
- Collect and move finished goods to shipping areas
- Perform tote picking and delivery
- Verify inventory accuracy and report shortages or discrepancies
- Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices
- Assist with loading shipments and preparing products for customers
- Perform routine equipment checks and report safety concerns
Job Rotation & Work Structure
- This role involves working across multiple areas, including Receiving, Conveyance, Shipping, and production support functions
- Team Members will rotate between tasks such as forklift operation, manual material handling, line support, and inventory activities
- Forklift operation is one part of the role and not the primary duty for the full shift
- Flexibility and willingness to learn different jobs are essential
Other Requirements
- This role requires reliable attendance for scheduled shifts.
- This role will be exposed to noise, moving equipment, and industrial processes typical of a manufacturing facility.
- This role includes repetitive lifting, moving materials, and working on your feet for most of the shift.
- This role requires wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety rules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience operating forklifts or tuggers is an asset
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform physical work throughout the shift
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
- Willingness to learn multiple roles within the department
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
