Duties:
1. Act as a general handyman in performing a variety of duties connected with maintenance, repair, minor construction, grounds keeping, rink, ice and basic maintenance of the ice re-surfacer, forklift or other related mechanical equipment.
2. Conduct or oversee the regular schedule of ice maintenance by edging, shaving, or building of ice by industry standards and maintain the work performance record logs as required.
3. Perform the necessary facility conversion work to host entertainment spectacles, major shows and events:
- Cover and remove sub-floor from the ice surface to ensure accurate and timely conversions between ice and non ice usage;
- During event conversions, must be able to remove and replace rink glass and rink-boards within a tight time frame;
- Assemble and/or construct Arena stage for a major show or event to exact specifications;
- Set-up “follow-spot” locations for major shows and/or events;
- Required to work at elevated heights (i.e. work on “catwalk”);
- Drop and remove power cables from catwalk during conversion periods as required;
- Under the instructions of the Assistant Manager of Arenas, accommodate and deal with event promoter(s) during event set-up.
4. Perform the function of janitor to the building.
5. Deliver equipment, supplies and materials by pick up truck as required.
6. Prepare requisitions of supplies and materials required for maintenance, repair and construction work for management.
7. Maintain surveillance and minor service to mechanical, electrical and refrigeration equipment; report abnormalities or breakdowns of equipment to the Manager of Arenas or Assistant Manager of Arenas.
8. Assist with administrative functions such as maintaining ice schedule and booking logs, time sheets, equipment rental contracts, and the various maintenance logs as required.
9. Assist with concession operations by receiving and signing for supplies.
10. Assist in the supervision and the day to day direction of Full and Part Time Maintenance personnel, outlining their job assignments and insure the safe performance of their duties.
11. Ensure the maintenance of operational logs as required by the Operating Engineers Act and all work performance logs, preventative maintenance logs as directed.
12. Maintain a good Corporate image of the Department and CGS.
13. In the absence of Manager of Arenas or Assistant Manager of Arenas, assume responsibility for protection of Section property.
14. Load and unload of various supplies and/or equipment using a Lift Truck (forklift) as required.
15. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
16. Perform other related duties as required.

Development opportunity rate of pay: $35.84 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
