Horizon Family Medicine is a 20 physician medical clinic dedicated to providing optimal patient-centered care in Red Deer.
We are looking for a compassionate, experienced and highly motivated Medical Office Assistant to provide medical and administrative support to the physicians and patients of Horizon Family Medicine. This role is suited for an MOA who has strong empathy towards patients, a high-level of multi-tasking abilities, and who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities / Requirements
Administrative
- Greeting patients in a timely and friendly manner, while possessing a team-oriented focus.
- Maintaining efficient general patient flow within the clinic while exhibiting professionalism, empathy, and friendliness.
- Updating patient personal information and creating new patient files within our Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Administer excellent communication to physicians and co-workers both verbally and written, within our Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Medical
- Efficiently filling exam rooms; preparing patients for appointments including medical procedures, complete physicals, driver's medicals, collecting vitals, etc.
- Properly setting up any surgical or dressing trays required by doctors for patient appointments.
- Assist doctors with specific medical procedures such as minor surgeries, dressings, sutures, and ECGs.
- Regular cleaning and sterilization of exam rooms, station storage and medical equipment.
Education and Personal Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Office Assistant

- Completion of post-secondary training with a focus on medical terminology/processes and possesses significant experience working in a medical, clinical environment.
- Preference for completion of the Medical Office Assistant Program or Unit Clerk Certificate Program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Strong experience working with an integrated Electronic Medical Records computer system.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
