Summary

Reporting to the Documentation Supervisor, the CAD Technician is responsible for taking technical information and illustrating it in a way that can be easily understood and utilized by both technical and non-technical people. Their work will include creation and maintenance of drawing packages, design specifications relevant to manufacturing, assembly instructions and maintenance of P&D documentation. The CAD Technician will be required to create drawing packages of current and new product, assembly instructions and provide support to the Manufacturing and Export departments. Creating these documents requires a great deal of research and subject matter knowledge therefore the successful candidate must have excellent research skills and become a subject matter expert.

Education/Experience

Technical drafting diploma in Industrial Design, Engineering, or equivalent preferred

At least 3 years of relatable CAD experience

Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator) and Microsoft Office

Experience with 3-D modelling software is a requirement

An acceptable combination of education and work experience

Agricultural and/or Manufacturing industry experience is an asset

Knowledge of and experience with current farming practices and equipment are an asset

Accountabilities

Work with design groups to develop drawing packages for current/new product

Provide CAD support to design groups

Create all Product and Development documentation to be utilized by Manufacturing

Create assembly instructions to be utilized by Export

Provide support to Manufacturing and Export departments

Will have good communication and interaction with the design team and production team

Ability to efficiently gather and research information for use in technical documentation

Assist in design and maintenance of technical document layouts

Ability to deliver high quality documentation with a strong attention to detail.

Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and drawings

Make decisions with supervisor guidance and in compliance with the essential functions of the task

Ability to remain positive, persuasive and personable when dealing with difficult situations
