Overview
Town Daycare Centre is seeking dedicated and flexible Substitute Early Childhood Educators (ECE) to join our educational team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and instruction to young children in various classroom settings, supporting their developmental and educational needs. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on children's learning experiences while gaining valuable classroom experience in early childhood education.
Qualifications
- Level 1, 2, or 3 ECE Classification
- A strong belief in the Nova Scotia Early Learning Curriculum, recognizing every child as capable, confident, and curious
Duties
- Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Implement lesson plans provided by lead teachers or develop activities aligned with curriculum standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment
- Assist with classroom management and behavior guidance strategies
- Support individual needs of children, including those with disabilities or special education requirements
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to ensure a collaborative educational environment
- Follow all licensing and safety regulations to ensure compliance and child well-being
Skills
- Experience working with children in early childhood settings is preferred
- Classroom experience or teaching background is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members
- Knowledge of special education practices and experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus
- Familiarity with early childhood education principles, including developmental milestones and age-specific activities
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and routines
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting young learners
