Our client is an established and growing mechanical contractor with more than 30 years of experience serving the Greater Toronto Area is looking for an Estimator / Project Manager to join its team.
The company specializes in HVAC and mechanical retrofit projects and has built a strong reputation for technical expertise, quality workmanship, safety, and long-term client relationships. Its projects involve a wide range of mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, make-up air units, cooling towers, pumps, heat pumps, plumbing systems, and fan coil risers.

You may already be an experienced Estimator / Project Manager capable of taking projects from bid through completion, an HVAC Estimator looking to develop your project management experience, or a mechanical construction professional ready to take the next step in your career.
For a more experienced candidate, the position will offer significant independence and responsibility for estimating and managing projects. For a developing candidate, the company is prepared to provide mentorship and the opportunity to progressively take on greater estimating and project management responsibilities.
The Role
The Estimator / Project Manager will be involved in the full lifecycle of mechanical retrofit projects, from initial opportunity and estimating through contract award, construction, and project closeout.
Depending on your experience, responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
- Completing material take-offs, labour calculations, and project cost analyses.
- Obtaining and evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assisting with or leading the preparation of bids, tenders, and proposals.
- Participating in bid strategy, negotiations, and project award discussions.
- Supporting or managing awarded projects from pre-construction through completion.
- Developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinating with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, field teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Managing procurement and ensuring equipment and materials are available to meet project schedules.
- Monitoring project costs, schedules, progress, and overall performance.
- Identifying project risks and resolving issues before they impact delivery.
- Managing change orders, project documentation, and reporting.
- Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable codes and company standards.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with a background in HVAC, mechanical construction, or mechanical engineering who is interested in building a long-term career in estimating and project management.
The successful candidate may bring experience in estimating, project management, or a combination of both.
Qualifications include:
- Experience working in HVAC, mechanical construction, mechanical estimating, or project management.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems such as chillers, boilers, make-up air units, cooling towers, pumps, heat pumps, plumbing systems, piping, ductwork, controls, and/or fan coil risers.
- Experience with mechanical retrofit projects is an asset.
- Estimating experience, including take-offs, pricing, supplier and subcontractor quotations, bids, or tenders, is an asset.
- Project management experience involving scheduling, procurement, cost control, change orders, subcontractor coordination, or client management is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- A Mechanical Engineering degree or relevant technical education combined with industry experience will be considered.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to visit project sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
