The Opportunity:

Our team of Asset Integrity Engineers implements a wide variety of inspection, repair, risk assessment, and corrosion management technologies to ensure that our Asset Integrity Programs are executed with optimal effectiveness on Canadian Natural infrastructures within our Oil Sands, Thermal and Conventional facilities, including an extensive network of pipelines that move our products to various end points largely located in Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC.
This opportunity will provide hands-on experience by collaborating closely with a number of stakeholders such as Field Integrity, Production Engineering, Process Engineering, Static & Rotating Equipment Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Projects groups, providing exposure to various technical aspects of Asset Integrity in pressure equipment, pressure equipment, piping, tanks, and structural components. This role offers a unique opportunity for students to delve into the upstream and downstream energy industry, regulatory standards, industry codes, and corporate practices. Additionally, the position provides practical experience with engineering tools used in a diverse range of equipment types. This role offers a pivotal opportunity to contribute to safeguarding critical assets in a dynamic industry, ensuring their reliability and safety.

- Term length: 8 or 12 months
- Term start: May 2025
- Job location: Calgary, AB with occasional field visits as required.
- Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off (Monday to Friday)

Key Accountabilities:
- Assist with the writing of engineering assessments for new and existing systems
- Develop corrosion mitigation and inspection strategies for pipelines, plant equipment and piping systems
- Review and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to ensure asset integrity targets are being monitored and maintained
- Provide materials engineering support to ongoing operation, maintenance and new projects
- Participate in metallurgical failure analysis of failed or damaged components
- Perform analysis of inspection and failure data and provide engineering recommendations for ongoing repair and mitigation strategies
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor Degree program in Materials Engineering preferred, Mechanical Engineering acceptable
- Previous integrity engineering related experience, field experience is considered an asset
- Required to be physically and mentally fit for work
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
- A pre-employment drug and alcohol test must be completed
