Position Overview
The Judaic Educator at Tamim Academy of Vancouver plays a vital role in shaping a joyful, meaningful, and growth-oriented Jewish learning environment for students. With a focus on whole-child development and student agency, the Judaic Educator embraces Tamim's mission of fostering a deep connection to Jewish life, values, and learning. This role requires a dynamic and reflective educator who can design authentic learning experiences, build strong relationships with students, and collaborate actively with colleagues, families, and the broader school community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Professionalism and Collaboration
- Demonstrate commitment to lifelong professional learning.
- Build strong relationships that contribute to individual and collective success.
- Participate actively in the school’s collaborative culture and professional development.
- Show initiative, adaptability, and a ‘can do’ attitude in support of school growth.
- Contribute to a positive, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment for all learners.
- Support the use of the Altitude Platform and other school-wide systems.
Instructional Practice
- Develop and facilitate authentic Judaic learning experiences aligned with Tamim’s pedagogy.
- Tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.
- Utilize understanding of content, assessment, and learning progressions to engage learners.
- Document and share practices clearly to support reflective teaching and collaboration.
- Promote student ownership and metacognition in the learning process.
Whole-Child and Values-Based Education
- Integrate social-emotional learning, Jewish values, and Torah principles into classroom life.
- Foster meaningful connections between students and Jewish traditions, holidays, and community.
- Support each child's emotional and spiritual development through responsive practices.
School Growth and Community Engagement
- Welcome and engage with visitors, parents, and community members.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with families regarding student growth.
- Respond to community needs and contribute actively to the development of Tamim Academy.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior classroom teaching experience with elementary-aged students.
- Demonstrated success in supporting whole-child learning and student engagement.
- Passion for working with children and creating joyful, student-driven experiences.
- Commitment to continuous professional learning and collaboration.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Legal work authorization in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in education.
- Experience leading curriculum development and/or assessment.
- Background in Jewish education or formal Torah learning.
