An opening exists in the Book Fairs Division for the position of Driver (1A) reporting to the Distribution Manager.
This position would work well for someone who has seasonal summer employment such as farming, tree planting or landscaping.
This position works 24-30 weeks of each year with varied hours each week (October to April with a 4-week layoff over Christmas and a 3-month layoff June - August) All hours are Monday-Friday (no weekend hours) with early hours that may vary and overtime/overnights as required.
Work Location: This position works out of our Saskatoon branch located at 4003 Aronec Ave, Saskatoon, SK.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for the physical delivery and pick up of Scholastic Book Fairs to and from schools in Saskatchewan, Eastern Alberta and Manitoba.
- Responsible for delivering the Book Fair and its contents into the school in a safe and timely manner.
- Responsible for returning the contents of the Book Fair back to the Saskatoon location in a safe and timely manner.
- Responsible for the loading and unloading of the vehicle in a safe manner as well as assisting with other warehouse duties when required.
- This position requires the frequent pushing or pulling of heavy cases during delivery and pickup.
- Responsible for the safe operation of company vehicles as per government standards
- The Driver must represent Scholastic professionally during all customer contacts.
- Some heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs.) is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- The Driver must agree to and follow the Scholastic Driver’s Policy, and all legislated transportation guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma along with 3 years of previous relevant work experience.
- Valid Class 1A driver’s license, experience pulling a trailer (40 ft), and a clean driver’s abstract.
- CSA approved green-label safety shoes are required.
