The Role: As an Electrical Engineer at Precision Mounting Technologies (PMT), you are responsible for developing products and executing your departments go-to-market strategy. Working collaboratively with your team, you have the opportunity to tackle projects big and small from cradle to grave while working hand in hand with some of the largest tech companies on the planet. This role is key in assuring your departments products are designed, function, and provide value that outperform the competition.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Research customers’ needs through communications with end-users, resellers, and partners.
- Help develop go-to-market and competitive strategies.
- Plan, develop, and communicate a strategy for product launch and initial forecast.
- Participate in team problem solving, process improvement, and decision-making.
- Design, improve, and modify schematics, manufacturer files, and chipset firmware for rugged digital & analog equipment (PCBAs, Cable Harnesses, etc).
- Integrate mechanical, thermal, and EMI protective design considerations into new and existing 3rd party hardware.
- Provide production, customer service, and certification/testing support for products designed internally and by 3rd parties.
- Provide technical support to sales managers, marketing, and customer service representatives.
- Oversee assembly and testing of engineering prototypes.
- Travel to customer and partner sites to conduct design reviews.
- Familiarity with communication protocols including UART, CAN, I2C, SPI
- Experience with KiCAD or similar PCB design software
- Programming in C/C++ for embedded systems
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a electrical engineering role
- Solidworks experience an asset
- Able to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision; but also, able to work effectively within the team dynamic as required
- Ability to work collaboratively and accept feedback from stakeholders
- Proactive approach to addressing problems and ability to recommend solutions
- Extensive computer hardware literacy and experience
- Strong attention to detail required
- Excellent written, verbal communication and comprehension skills
- Ability to travel as required (when safe and permissible to do so) throughout North America and internationally for supporting design projects, such as prototype demos, testing, and QA. Apx amount of travel less than 5%
- Windows PC hardware expertise and understanding of Android hardware and OS’s
- 12v DC automotive electronics and systems knowledge and expertise.
- Expertise in the PC peripheral equipment space (USB, HDMI, serial, LAN, etc connectivity)
- Mechanical design experience an asset
- Familiarity with compliance and related certification standards as they apply (MIL STD-810, EMI, EMC, CE, WEEE, RoHS/REACH, electrical safety, etc)

Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
