Shift: Rotational shift of 7 day on 7 days off, 12 hour days (occasional overtime available)
Compensation: $48.10-$53.00 Plus Travel Incentive (as per collective agreement)
Union & Benefits: Employees will be hired as Union Members and benefits provided under International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115 upon signing up and paying admission fees

Position Overview:
Cantex Mining Services is seeking a reliable and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of site equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment, mainly Caterpillar.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and efficient equipment availablity.
- Assist in ordering parts and materials as required for repairs and maintenance.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide support to minimize downtime.
- Adhere to site-specific safety policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements:
- Valid Red Seal Trade Certification.
- Ability to work in a safe and productive environment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to Safety and attention to detail.
- Experience working on a mine site or similar industrial evironment.
- Be able to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong diagnostic and trouble shooting skills.
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs.
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5 minimum).
- Own basic tools.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Be proficient in the English language.
- Successfully pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol testing, criminal record check, hearing test, fit work assessment and Operator competency checks.
Assets:
- Proven experience working on Caterpillar/mining equipment
- Experience with diesel or fleet vehicles
- Inspection license (CVIP in BC is a bonus)
