General Purpose of Job:
The Mechanical Assembler will use output from the Design & Machining departments, together with purchased parts to build custom automation equipment according to specifications in the Project Requirements Form and accepted quote.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure precision alignment & set up of mechanical components
- Install pneumatic actuators, valving & related components
- Troubleshoot, identify, & modify tooling as required
- Install components by following schematics, drawings & specifications
- Perform mechanical assembly of such items as mechanical components, piping & tubing, pneumatics in accordance with drawings and instructions.
- Be familiar with general machining
- Train, lead, & mentor junior builders
- Maintain a 5S & visual plant floor
- Ensure active communication throughout the build process that includes status of day-to-day tasks or problems encountered
- Provide technical support in the start-up and in-house testing of equipment.
- Performs customer installations & field service work as directed.
- Establish & maintain a safe work environment
- Decommission equipment, rigging & customer on site installation
- Understand and adhere to all applicable codes & standards
What you’ll need:
- Minimum Certificate of Qualification for a Precision Metals (General Machinist, Mould Maker or Tool and Die Making) OR Millwright
- Minimum 5 years’ automation experience
- Working knowledge of machinery, equipment, robotics & automated processes.
- Solid understanding of machinery safety principles
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and other technicians.
- Own & maintain a complete set of personal hand tools as required in the assembly process.
