X-Copper Professional Corporation, a premier law firm with over 20 years of experience in the legal community, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our head office in Markham. As the sole HR professional on our team, we are seeking a versatile and self-sufficient HR Generalist who excels at working independently. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set and the ability to manage all facets of HR operations with minimal supervision.
Role overview: Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing a variety of human resources functions, ensuring efficient and effective HR operations that align with organizational goals. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills and a comprehensive understanding of HR best practices. The HR Generalist plays a key role in recruiting, employee relations, compliance, and HR administration, contributing to a positive workplace environment and supporting the overall success of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding:
· Full cycle recruitment including: job postings, candidate screening, and interviews, employment contracts.
· Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth integration into the organization.
Employee Relations:
· Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support on HR-related issues.
· Facilitate conflict resolution and handle employee grievances in a fair and consistent manner.
Compliance and Administration:
· Ensure compliance relevant employment laws and regulations.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
Performance Management:
· Assist in the development and implementation of performance management processes, including goal setting and performance reviews.
· Provide coaching and support to managers and employees on performance-related matters.
Policy Implementation:
· Contribute to the development and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
· Communicate changes in policies and procedures to employees effectively.
HR Metrics and Reporting:
· Monitor and analyze HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.
· Prepare and present reports on HR activities, including turnover rates, employee engagement, and training outcomes.
Benefits Administration:
· Employee enrollment and deactivations.
· Liaising with broker as needed.
Health and Safety:
· Serve as the JHSC representative for management
· Support health and safety initiatives and ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations.
· Conduct workplace investigations and handle incident reporting as required.
Qualifications & skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· CHRP designation.
· At least 3 years of experience in an HR role, with a strong understanding of HR best practices and employment laws.
· Experience using ADP WFN an asset.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
· Experience with HR metrics and data analysis.
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Demonstrated experience in managing employee relations and handling sensitive issues.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Knowledge of payroll systems and benefits administration.
