Women Building Futures (WBF) is a non-profit organization that empowers women to become economically prosperous through industry recognized training. The Admissions & Enrolment Advisor is responsible for providing support to prospective students to apply and enrol to WBF training programs.
Organize and conduct information sessions, assessments and forums online and in locations in and outside of Edmonton
Educate and encourage women regarding opportunities and challenges in trades and driving/operating careers.
Answer intake, program and initial funding questions
Screen candidates by reviewing application packages; conduct initial phone screens and pre-qualification process; conduct in-depth interviews to assess program requirements.
Identify and communicate applicant behaviors that may impact successful transition to employment
Improve organizational attractiveness to applicants by adapting the process to the application whenever possible
Create relationships with local resources to maintain the a network of referral opportunities
Substantial time commitment of inputting data into the data base required to ensure accurate records are maintained.
Create unique applicant sourcing strategies. Build talent pipelines leveraging traditional and non- traditional methods of recruiting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Above average communication skills – written and verbal. Comfortable with presentations and facilitation to groups
Coaching abilities – able to probe with strong open-ended questions
Facilitation and teaching/training abilities and public speaking
Advanced computer proficiency
Awareness of cultural, economic and social barriers to women in learning and employment
Knowledge of employment expectations and job opportunities in the trades
Education & Experience
College Diploma or University Degree in Human Services field/Career Development or equivalent experience
2 to 4 years work experience; social work, academia or NFP environment
2 to 3 years in an admissions and enrolment role in different types of environments—non-traditional roles is beneficial
Experience with the challenges of women working in non-traditional roles: cultural, economic, and social barriers to adult learning and employment
Customer Relationship Management software experience an asset.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Government funding experience considered an asset
Ability to work in an agile work environment including offsite and telework arrangements.
This position may requires up to 25% travel within Alberta. (With COVID-19 restrictions in place)
