Education: High school diploma preferred or equivalent knowledge.
Training/License: Holder of Class 3 Drivers License with endorsement numbers
08 & 09.
Shall have the following certificates issued by the Occupational Health & Safety Branch of Department of Labour:
1. Transportation of Dangerous Goods
2. Navigation of Overhead Wires
3. Working in Confined Spaces
4. Highway Flagging and Signage
5. Workplace Hazardous Materials
Information Systems
Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience operating heavy equipment, loader, back-hoe and dump truck; verified with documentation
References required.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The major duties and responsibilities of this position include:
< The installation of water and sewer systems;
< Snow Clearing;
< Roads Maintenance;
< Facilities.
2. The major duties of the position will typically require, but shall not be limited to:
< Maintenance of Town vehicles including preventative maintenance;
< Operation of Town vehicles;
< Maintenance and operation of the water and sewer systems including preventative maintenance;
< Road construction and repair;
< Maintenance of storage facilities and any other special clean-up deemed by Council;
< Snow and ice control;
< Maintenance and operation of Town facilities including preventative maintenance;
< Assist mechanic when required;
< Ensure that care, caution, and safety measures are followed when operating heavy equipment.
3. Submit verbal reports immediately to the Public Works Superintendent or designate following any accidents or damage to property or equipment.
