OSCA Communications and Marketing Coordinator
Reporting to OSCA’s Managing Director, the Communications and Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that promote OSCA programs and community initiatives. As well, the position will be responsible for the creative design work required for promotional material such as posters, ads, website content, and social media posts.
This position will be hybrid remote/in-person work; most duties can be performed remotely but the successful candidate will need to attend meetings in-person when required. Hybrid schedule to be determined.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the Communications Committee, Web Editor, Web Administrator and OSCAR editor to review, update and implement recommendations for the revision, deletion or creation of material on the OSCA website and other initiatives to improve OSCA’s communications tools and products
- Supporting and coordinating fundraising initiatives approved by the Board of Directors
- Regular and consistent communication with clients and the community via the OSCA website, social media, OSCA registration software and the community newspaper The OSCAR
- Collaborating with staff and the Communications Committee; achieving brand consistency; coordinating messaging, and ensuring high standards for communications
- The Communications and Marketing Coordinator must have a strong passion for the work and mission of OSCA; knowledge of the community and proven outreach and networking skills
Desirable Skills/Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience in marketing, communications, media or public relations
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Bilingualism is an asset
- Demonstrated graphic design capabilities
- Creative thinking and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain timelines and meet deadlines
- Experience working with Non-Profit organizations
- Experience with e-mail marketing campaigns
- Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft office, Canva, Excel, PPT and social media platform software
- Experience with websites and HTML
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Electronic/Social Media and website:
- Regularly create posts for social media channels that promote programs, community information and initiatives; this includes, but is not limited to, special events and other ‘happenings’ at OSCA
- Collaborate with the Web Editor and Web Administrator and assist with the creation and updating of web content
- Manage content related protocols
- Coordinate the posting of promotional and programming material to the OSCA website
- Create emails using Constant Contact and Activity Messenger with OSCA branding for promotion of programs, events, committee initiatives and topics of interest to the community
- Develop annual marketing plan to coincide with annual program planning
- Create print ads, posters and banners for display in OOS
Committee work:
- Regular participation in Communications Committee
- Follow up on, and implement, marketing and communications initiatives/projects approved by the Communications Committee
- Participate in policy and development for Communications
- Contribute to OSCA’s branding initiatives
- Track the results and efficacy of outreach efforts, and compile reports for the Board and Committees.
