Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deli/HMR (Hot Meal Ready) Manager to oversee daily operations within our retail store. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the deli and HMR departments, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining product quality, and driving sales. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of retail management to foster a productive and welcoming environment. Bilingual abilities and prior experience in retail sales, store management, or food service are highly desirable. The Deli/HMR Manager will play a key role in team development, merchandising, and operational excellence to meet business goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the deli and HMR departments, ensuring smooth daily operations and adherence to safety standards.
- Manage inventory purchasing, pricing strategies, and merchandising to optimize product presentation and sales performance.
- Oversee payroll processing, cash handling, and bookkeeping activities related to department operations.
- Recruit, train, and develop team members through effective coaching, performance evaluations, and ongoing training initiatives.
- Implement marketing strategies to promote deli/HMR offerings both in-store and through promotional channels.
- Ensure excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues promptly, and maintaining high standards of store etiquette including phone etiquette.
- Utilize POS systems efficiently for sales transactions and inventory management.
- Monitor departmental budgets, control costs, and manage pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, updates, and training opportunities.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance within the department at all times.
- Collaborate with store management on sales management initiatives and store-wide promotional activities.
Experience
- Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail sales or food service environments is required.
- Demonstrated skills in negotiation, merchandising, marketing, and team management are essential.
- Prior experience with retail management systems such as POS platforms is preferred.
- Strong background in recruiting, training & development, budgeting, and administrative tasks is highly valued.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are considered a significant advantage for communication with diverse customer bases.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with organizational skills are necessary for effective leadership and operational success.
- Experience in cash handling, bookkeeping, pricing strategies, sales management, and store management will support success in this role.
